AC repair & maintenance in Murrieta, CA

Hot springs country, newer neighborhoods

Area: Murrieta, CAZIP: 92562–92563Peak season: June–September

Murrieta sits just north of Temecula and shares the same long, hot summers. Many of its neighborhoods were built from the late 1980s on, which means a lot of homes are now on their second or third AC system, and some original systems are still hanging on.

The city grew up around Murrieta Hot Springs, and its west side climbs toward the Santa Rosa Plateau. Homes on the hillsides catch more wind, while the valley floor holds the afternoon heat.

What to watch in Murrieta

  • Aging systems. If your system is original to a 1990s or early-2000s home, it may still use R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer produced and is costly to recharge. A slow leak on one of these systems is usually a sign to start planning a replacement.
  • Two-story homes. Upstairs rooms run hot because heat rises and attic ducts bake. Make sure upstairs returns are open and clean, and ask about duct insulation at your tune-up.
  • Hillside wind. Homes toward the plateau get more blowing dust and leaves in the outdoor unit. Check it after windy days.

How often to service your system in Murrieta

  • Filter: every 30–60 days June–September; every 90 days in winter.
  • Tune-up: every April, before the June heat.
  • Heating check: October, before cool nights.
  • Drain line: flush in May and again in August.
